Slime Drink

Activity Name: Slime Drink

Introduction: Sometimes lemonade won’t cut it… and water doesn’t taste right… and it’s too hot for milk. That’s when you get creative and bust out the SLIME DRINK.

Size: Any

Supplies: ½ gallon Limeade, 1 liter of ginger ale, ½ lime sherbet ice cream.

Objective: Project completion, teamwork and group projects.

Description: Mix limeade and ginger ale together in a pitcher. Once thoroughly mixed, add the ice cream and stir. Add in fruit pieces or marshmallows to float on the top.

Mutant Plant Experiment

Activity Name: Mutant Plant Experiment

Introduction: Conducting an experiment is a great way to keep people engaged, especially when many normal activities are prohibited. This experiment combines biology with vivid color for a short but rewarding activity.

Size: 2-4

Supplies: Celery stalks (one per participant), water, jars (one per participant) and food coloring of choice.

Objective: Hands-on learning, expanding conceptual knowledge, teaching opportunities.

Description: Fill each jar halfway to three-fourths of the way full of water. Allow each participant to choose the color they’d like to use. Next, have each person stick a celery stalk into the colored water. Let them check back every once in a while to see the change in the celery’s color as it absorbs the food coloring.

Personalized Mugs

Every have a favorite coffee mug and wish everyone would stop taking it? Claim it by personalizing it!

Size of Group: 1-unlimited

Materials needed: Coffee Mug, Oil Based Sharpie’s, Large letter stickers (From Walmart or craft shop).

Description: Basically all that is needed here is to apply whatever letters are needed for Initials and or someone’s name on the mug. Then take the Sharpie and create dots all around the stickers until each edge is fully covered with color. Once done and the mug is dry, remove the stickers. Making sure your area is well ventilated – turn on your oven to 350. Set your mugs inside and let them bake for about 30 minutes. Once the 30 minutes is up, turn off the oven and let the mugs cool down inside the oven.When done, remove from oven. Wash and then of course, fill and enjoy with your favorite beverage to enjoy.

Spreading Love

How to spread the love

 

Size of group: 1-5

Supplies: Strips of paper cut into 3 to 6-inch sections, A stapler, Yarn or string

Objective: Create love, Project Completion, Project Enjoyment

Description: This is one of the most simple projects and can be posted on the front of the house in a window or on the door.

  1. take two strips of paper, place them to overlap the long way, and staple the bottom together.
  2. Now pull the top part away from each other and pull down so that each piece of the paper touches below the section already stapled and edges match up. Add another two strips of paper lining up the bottom edges with the ones that are folded down to create a heart.
  3. Staple this and continue until it is as long as you want.

Twist Art

Activity Name: Twist Art

Introduction: Painting is an exercise that can provide relief from stress and allow a person to experiment with colors and forms. Not everyone is Picasso, though, and changing up the way we use paint can engage people in new ways.

Size: Any

Supplies: Paper plates, acrylic paints (various colors), paint brushes, newspapers or sheets.4

Objective: Project completion, creativity, hand-eye coordination and following instructions.

Description: Each participant takes two paper plates and applies small, dime-nickel sized dots of paint onto the backs of each plate. Colors and positions are discretionary for each participant. Participant then presses the backs of both plates together and rub them together in a circular motion for 30-60 seconds before pulling them apart. For each participant, the plates must be set aside to dry before they can be displayed.

Frozen Grape Treats

Activity Name: Frozen Grape Treats

Introduction: We all need to eat our fruits and vegetables, and sometimes it’s a hard sell to make that happen. This is a different twist on the usual fruits to keep participants engaged in making better food choices.

Size: Any

Supplies: Seedless grapes of any kind, ¼ cup sugar per cup of grapes used.

Objective: Promote healthy eating, group activity and following a list of instructions.

Description: Remove all grape stems and pluck grapes from vine and wash thoroughly. Then place grapes into sealable bags and pour in sugar before gently shaking to coat grapes. Remove grapes and place on paper towels to remove surface moisture. Then place on a lined baking sheet and freeze for 2 hours.
